Apple crisps are are a warm and comforting treat. Add in cherries and you have one fantastic dessert. I love crisps for breakfast also. This recipe is lower refined sugar and wheat free. It can be made gluten free also if you have gluten free oats handy. You can use any fruit combination including frozen or fresh. Enjoy!
Apple Cherry Crisp
2 large apples cored and sliced
1 TBL lemon juice
3 cups frozen cherries
1 TBL organic sugar
1 TBL tapioca starch
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup almond flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 TBLorganic sugar
2 TBL coconut oil
Add the apples, cherries, lemon juice, sugar, and starch in a bowl and mix well. Add the oats, almond flour, salt, and sugar to another bowl. Cut in the coconut oil to the dry mixture. Add the fruit mixture to an oiled baking pan. Top with the oat mixture. Bake uncovered for 35-40 mins until the fruit is soft and the topping is lightly brown.
